Doctoral
thesis on Technology Management in the Print Media (1989-1992)
with Times of India & Indian Express, Mumbai.

the process of adapting over to a computerized production
environment. The “human-factor” set-off against the effective
utilization of technology was the theme of the
thesis.2.Conducted a detailed Training Need Analysis (TNA) for

-
Conducted a
detailed Training Need Analysis (TNA) for SNPL (Surya Nepal
Private Ltd, Nepal), the manufacturer of “John Players” brand
shirts in 2004.
Snapshot: The Company was then merely four months into business.
International experts from Italy & France were called in to set
up the factory & predict the desired production trend. The
experts felt the factory was going slow and diagnosed communal
conflict as the cause. My analysis proved the diagnosis wrong.
The reasons for the production disaster were found to be: lack
of coordination between operatives, quality-production conflict,
personal ego hassles, and an unrealistic learning curve
predicted by the experts. The Managing Director of the company
personally appreciated the analysis & derived revised business
directives out of it.3.Took up a thorough intervention in ITC
Kidderpore factory as a long-term assignment (Phase 1:
2002-2003, Phase 2: 2004-2005).
-
Took up a thorough
intervention in ITC Kidderpore factory as a long-term assignment
(Phase 1: 2002-2003, Phase 2: 2004-2005).
Snapshot: The factory closed down in 2001. In the same year, an
agreement was signed between the workers’ union and the
management. The agreement stated that the factory will be
revived & fully reengineered. By February 2002, fully automated
machines were imported from Germany and the existing workforce
(majority being illiterate) was required to man the machines.
This called for a high degree of precision and teamwork. The
management decided to conduct a large-scale program on Team
Building for the labors and managers. Even the incentive scheme
was customized to value team performance. For the shop-floor
workers, the programs were conducted in Hindi & Bengali.
