The purpose of our courseware is to improve the
state of art in the planning, implementation and self-evaluation of
the students. The pragmatic learning solutions are precisely aligned
with current events. The courseware is supposed to be an introduction
to the knowledge and main elements of the programme. The idea behind
is that the students can enter the classroom with a common level of
knowledge so that the concerned faculty can focus on high-level
application of the programme.
Features of Courseware :
-
It has been drawn keeping the current day trends in the
industry and consulting the PGPM curriculum from leading
B- Schools world over.
-
Every Semester Curriculum review is done by seasoned Academicians &
Senior Corporate Executives.
-
Application oriented multi disciplinary approach towards learning is
followed.
Teaching & Learning Pedagogy At EIILM
Teaching at EIILM has been a matter of pre-renown
attraction because of certain factors inbuilt in its system. Prior to
the start of formal classes for PGDBM course, we get a review and
orientation period for each of the courses. Reviews and Orientations
are done in the manner as specified below:-
Review
Mechanism (RM), this comprises of two stage analysis
APL helps in identifying the subjects already learnt,
practices known by the students with the total amount of knowledge
available. This is done for each student and made into a data package
for her / him. This data is updated every semester and maintained
properly till the end of the program. APL measures the shortcomings
(if any) for the prerequisites of the subjects to be taken under the
course. A student found falling short in a particular area of
knowledge and practice is given special coaching. In that area to make
her / him come up to the desired standard. Apart from the special
coaching a general awareness program is conducted for a period of one
month prior to the actual session.
Assessment of future potential (AFP) helps the student
identified the right mix and profile of career for her/him. This is
combination of Personality Mapping done through Management Micro Lab (MLML).
A student will get the benefit of MML once a year. Students belonging
to PGDBM course of EIILM can now opt for MML once a year.
After the Review Period is over, the course starts at
formal pace. Delivery of the course is the function of the subjects.
For a multifunctional course like PGPM the teaching pedagogy is much wider. The Institute follows a general pedagogy for teaching and
learning that cuts across various disciplines.
General
Pedagogy for Teaching & Learning
Teaching at EIILM is
imparted as three steps as depicted in the following
paragraphs :-
-
Preparations Prior to Class (PPC)
-
Continuous Inculcation in the Class (CIC)
-
Post Class Classification in the Class (PCT)
PPC : Students are given the course packs for
each subject and the lesson plans in the beginning. Whereas a course
packs is the complete coverage of the subjects, the lessons plans are
the broad outlines of the points likely to be discussed in each class.
Therefore, the students know before hand item of the particular
subject that is going to be discussed in the subsequent days, comes to
the class with the preparation and asks questions for further
analysis, clarification and additional inputs. Good PPC makes the
students competent to have a full participation in the CIC.
CIC : Classes are basically interactive.
Teachers talk, listen and make others talk as well. While talking on
the subject the teacher uses any of the methods described below: -
Chalk & Talk: This method implies that the teacher does not use any
teaching aid. As is expected of a senior professor in the West, here
at EIILM also, senior and experienced teachers adopt chalk and talk
method of teaching inside classroom. The teacher writes points on the
black board with a chalk or on a white board with a marker. Points
thus written by teachers are explained and elaborated in the talks.
Overhead Projected Presentation: This method
incorporates a teaching aid with transparencies. When a teacher shows
transparencies, students do not waste their time noting down the
contents, rather they interact with the faculty and take note on
important points. Copies of the transparencies are distributed among
all students.
Power Point and / or Multimedia Presentation : This
method involves the computer (desktop / laptop) in the class room. The
teacher presents a series of slides on the power point and multimedia
for better understanding and appreciation of the student. Soft copies
of the presentation are made available to the students whenever it is
required.
